Peter Heseltine, MD, FACP

As Vice President - Medical Director, Global Businesses of Beckman Coulter, Inc, Dr. Heseltine has corporate responsibility for medical aspects of regulatory processes and medical scientific oversight of product performance and development. He liaises corporate business groups with clinical laboratorians and research scientists to drive excellence in laboratory performance and prioritization of biomedical translational research to patients. Dr. Heseltine received his medical training at Trinity College Dublin University and postgraduate training at the Yale University, the University of California, Los Angeles and the US Centers for Disease Control. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He was an academic tenured Professor of Medicine at the University of Southern California, where he taught medicine and conducted research on surgical infections, vaccines, HIV/AIDS, stroke and neurocognitive disorders. From 2000 to 2005, Dr. Heseltine was Medical Director of Infectious Diseases at Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute, supervising high-volume, Molecular, Microbiology, Virology, and Serology clinical laboratories. His team developed new esoteric tests under ISO 9001 standards and a 6 Sigma quality improvement program. Dr. Heseltine is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. He is the Chairman for the Data Safety Monitoring Board of the Intramural Program on Addiction, National Institute of Drug Abuse, NIH, and past Chairman of Division L, American Society for Microbiology. He has published more than ninety-five peer-reviewed papers, has presented over one hundred papers at medical meetings and maintains a position as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.
