Dr. Gregory Idos MD, MS is a board-certified gastroenterologist and clinical cancer geneticist. He specializes in the care of patients with hereditary cancer syndromes, notably Lynch Syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). 

His particular research interests include cancer genetics and cancer prevention; the genetic epidemiology of cancer, with an emphasis on gastrointestinal cancers; and the molecular pathogenesis of cancer. The goal of his research is to find new ways to prevent cancer and to improve treatment and care for cancer patients. 

Dr. Idos obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and obtained his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Los Angeles County-USC and completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. 

Currently, Dr. Idos is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at the USC Division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases and attends in the USC Norris Cancer Genetics Clinic. Dr. Idos serves as principal investigator for a multi-center prospective cohort study examining the benefits and harms of multiplex gene panel testing in collaboration with the Stanford Cancer Genetics Clinic. In addition, he is part of the USC Norris Precision Oncology Program whose purpose is to better diagnose, treat, cure and prevent cancer.  He has received a variety of honors and awards including the Susan Riley Foundation Grant for Pancreatic Cancer Research and  career development award from the USC Clinical Translational Science Institute.
