Registration for WC4 is open!

The WC4 organizing committee is pleased to announce that registration and poster submissions are currently being accepted for the upcoming Western CRC Consortium Conference (WC4), being hosted by C4 and collaborating partners within the western region. The conference is being offered as a hybrid event with additional details available on the registration link. The conference will be held from September 26-27, 2024 on the UC Davis Campus at their Conference Center (550 Alumni Lane, Davis, CA, 95616).

WC4 was formed in 2019 and brings together an energetic group of advocates, representing both public and private sectors, to exchange and compare ideas and experiences related to colorectal cancer and its prevention in the western region of the United States. The delegates from thirteen western states, will include health care providers, community clinic staff tasked with quality improvement efforts, Coordinated Care Organizations, researchers and scientists, CRC advocates, health center and hospital staff, public health leaders, survivors, and government representatives. The planning efforts for this symposium are being led by C4 with help from many throughout the region.

The conference will focus on the populations that are far from the 80% CRC national screening goal. These populations are the patients of the Western State’s Federally Qualitied Health Centers (FQHC) and Community Health Centers (CHC), the uninsured, underserved racial and ethnic populations, rural, and Medicaid insured populations.

Some topics that will be covered include: 1) proven methods that increase CRC screening and follow-up; 2) identification of populations at high risk for CRC; 3) recent guideline changes that place additional emphasis on improving screening rates for average risk patients between 45-49 years of age; 4) risk factor analyses of early onset CRC patients; 5) primary through tertiary prevention practices; 5) trending treatment breakthroughs to reduce the burden of disease; and  6) needed governmental actions that will increase colorectal cancer screening. The agenda is listed on the WC4 web site and speakers are being populated as they are confirmed. We are including national experts that can help educate attendees on best practices throughout the care continuum as part of the continuing education for the conference.
