C4 Unfiltered: Patient, Caregiver, and Advocate Community Council
To advance the vision that all Californians deserve a life free from the burden of colorectal cancer, the California Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C4) proudly introduces C4 Unfiltered—its Patient, Caregiver, and Advocate Community Council.
We are a community of patients, caregivers, survivors, and advocates united by lived experience and a shared commitment to improving outcomes across California. C4 Unfiltered ensures that the perspectives of those most affected by colorectal cancer are consistently centered, heard, and meaningfully integrated into C4’s work.
Our experiences span the full continuum of care—from prevention and early detection to treatment, survivorship, and loss. We bring these insights forward to inform and strengthen C4’s priorities and strategies.
Grounded in the belief that everyone deserves equitable access to prevention, early detection, and high-quality care, we provide perspective, context, and accountability. We elevate lived experience to inform effective, evidence-based solutions—ensuring C4’s work remains grounded, objective, and responsive to community needs.
Our council includes individuals representing a range of experiences and perspectives, including:
- People diagnosed with colorectal cancer before and after age 45
- Caregivers and surviving family members
- Students and emerging professionals in healthcare and public health
We are intentionally building a council that reflects the diversity of California—across age, race and ethnicity, gender, geography, and lived experience. Over the next three years, our goal is to ensure our collective voice reflects the communities most impacted by colorectal cancer.
As C4 Unfiltered, we partner with C4 to ensure its work remains grounded in real-world experience, guided by evidence, and accountable to the people it serves. We contribute candidly, engage thoughtfully, and collaborate with intention—because meaningful progress depends on both lived experience and rigor.
Disclaimer: C4 Unfiltered members may be affiliated with external organizations; however, participation on the council is independent and does not represent or endorse the positions of those organizations.
